What is the difference between skimming and wet plastering?

Do I need to prepare my walls before you plaster?

While we handle all the technical preparation as part of our service, there are a few things you can do before we arrive: remove pictures, mirrors, and wall fixtures; move furniture away from walls or to the center of the room (or ideally remove it completely); and cover floors and remaining furniture with dust sheets. If you're unable to prepare the space, we can handle this for you - just let us know in advance.

How do you address damp issues before plastering?

We always identify and address the root cause of dampness before plastering. This may involve installing a damp proof course, creating appropriate ventilation, applying waterproof tanking systems, or using specialized insulated plasterboards. For persistent issues, we can implement comprehensive solutions including anti-mould treatments and whole house ventilation systems. Simply plastering over damp without addressing the cause will lead to recurring problems.

Can you plaster over artex or textured ceilings?

Yes, we can plaster over artex or textured ceilings to create a smooth, contemporary finish. Depending on the condition and type of the existing artex, we'll either apply a bonding agent before skimming directly over it or install new plasterboard before skimming.
